Kyaaa~! Guess who went to Universal Studios?

That's right. ME.

Was so excited to go there! Been here for almost a year but never really went anywhere cuz we all had exams all year round and trying to keep up with them is not easy. When someone's done with their exams, someone else would just have their exams coming up. =(

But now that Winter Break is here...say hello Universal Studios!

Oh? It sounds familiar but you just can't recall what Universal Studios is? Hahaha! Lemme help you; it is...

THIS!

and this!

Woohoo! Me standing in front of the globe that I could only watch from my TV set back in Malaysia! Oh joy, oh joy!

Neh, remember that globe thingy you see in the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards that you can only watch if you have astro? You know, the channel that has Spongebob Squarepants ! Yeah! That's the one! (not TV 3 or NTV 7 arh...but ASTRO. Yes, the one that conks out when it rains.) But this is in Los Angeles, not Florida. (meh, same thing.)

There's tons of rides but it's not possible to try them all out given that the waiting time per ride is around 30min - 60min, with the rides lasting only maybe 6 minutes at most. =( So, with that in mind, choose the rides wisely!

First ride we went to was Shrek 4-D. The wait wasn't too bad cuz the line was moving most of the time and the posters on the walls were LoL!

Hahahahaha! p/s: Lord Farquaad wrote that. Dunno if u remember him from Shrek 1

The "ride" really is a simulation ride with 3-D motion pictures and moving seats to give you a supposedly "roller coaster" feel without the loops and drops. But this ride was for kids..so, nothing thrilling of that sort. Just seats going back and forth. However! It was real to a certain extent. E.g. they showed Donkey sneezing and like you felt his snot all over your face, -_-" *eww* and there were spiders crawling towards you on screen and you could feel them crawling on your feet. *double ewww*

The ride itself lasted only 5 minutes, I think? But before the ride there were vids and moving dummies of the characters introducing you to the story of the adventure and cracking corny jokes all the way. So it was fun.

My fav was, "If your 3-D glasses are still too small for you, CHANGE THE SIZE OF YOUR HEAD!"

Another thing is, if you ever go to Universal Studios, the Studio Tour is a MUST. I repeat, MUST. Sure, the wait is like an hour (or more..XD) but the ride is worth it!

If you come to Universal Studios and don't take the Studio Tour, then your trip there would be pretty much the same as a trip to any other amusement park. Your trip would just be incomplete. It's like going to Disneyland and not seeing Mickey mouse. Why? Because the tour takes you to actual filming sites of Hollywood's original movies from the distant past such as Frankenstein, to the latest and most popular TV series such as Desperate Housewives!

It's best to start off your trip with the studio tour cuz when it gets dark...you can't see a thing. (Lesson learned XD) Oh, plus, the tour guide was funny! (at least ours was, if you want her, her name is Aurora. Wow, I remembered her name!)

Some of the sites used for super old movies. You know, movies created waaaay before you were born.

Simulated flash flood for another super old movie. Since it NEVER SELDOM rain in California, all rains in movies are artificially created by removing the shower-head and turning it the other way round so that it faces the sky. And there you have it..WHEE~ rain! Can you imagine? All those romantic kissing scenes were done under shower-heads 0_o. Not so romantic now eh?

Stole the pic from Hannah cuz I couldnt't find it in my computer.

Cars from 2 Fast 2 Furious. You know, those car scenes that go "BOOM!" with the cars whirling towards your screen or doing some super cool car somersaults? Well, these guys help create that scene by dissembling the car shells and re-attaching them to these machines that does the stunts for them. The machines enable them to create a perfect flip/whirl every single time so that directors can achieve the perfect angle shot. ;D

Anyway, these two cars exploded in front of us. And I guess I had the best seats during the tour cuz the car was flinging directly into my face~! Yay! Live movie. Can't show it to you cuz a) Daddy didn't know how to switch his camera to movie mode and b) Hannah is also a silly little wimpog who doesn't know where the movie mode in her camera is (okay, she actually knows but she still hit the wrong button anyway). Don't look at me, I don't have a camera remember?

Anyway the cars were so kind to do a dance for us. Aren't they cute?! Enjoy~

There were tons of other stuff as well. You'd be amazed at how cheapskate Hollywood actually is. Using and reusing things from the past. I heard that Levin who went there when he was 10 (hmph, ~ spoiled ! XD Jk~) said that he had experience the earthquake ride too.

Then again, the tour guide informed us that the reason these rides could still be around for so long even without maintenance is because Hollywood has a contract that forced directors who shot on their sites to rebuild the scene exactly the way it was.

If you wanna see more just check out Hannah's site.

And so, the ride ended with the Grinch and the Who's doing a little dance~ to sum up for Christmas.~ I have yet to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Jim Carrey. -_-"

Speaking of the Grinch, Meet the Who's!

Yes, I stole this from Hannah's blog. (hate Hannah's silly idea of inserting her blog url into the pics XD) I have the original copy in my comp, and then I checked out Hannah's blog to find that she deleted her mouth. So I thought to myself, "OH HO! TIME TO SHOW THE REAL HANNAH AND HUMULIATE HER!" Then, I scrolled down to see that she covered my eye bags with sunglasses (that are super ugly, wth - the eyeglasses, not my eyebags). So I guess we can call it even? (even though I clearly demanded that she took down that horrendous pic. But I have kind heart so...she's lucky)

Went to City Walk (located right outside Universal Studio's amusement park) for dinner. =D

And for the record, Panda Inn is way better than Panda Express. They have milk chocolate fortune cookies, okay!

p/s: I think I need a tan? Am becoming too fair lately that everyone thinks I'm Korean. =.= Even my Korean friends think I'm Korean.
