Ronald Reagan Museum (Super long post; Yay! Pictures!)

Hey Everyone, I'm back! (Paiseh for abandoning this blog for so long ^_^")

Went on a School Field Trip last Thursday! (woohoo!) And yeah, as you can see in the post title that I went to the Ronald Reagan Library/Musuem.

In case you blur people don't know who that is, he is the 40th President of the USA. Used to be an actor, then governor, then eventually President. Reminds you of Arnold Schwarzenegger, no? (only too bad he can never be president *shrugs*) And if you still wanna know more about him, go look him up on Wikipedia or something. Anyway, here he is:

I dunno 'bout you, but I think he is pretty engtaw for a president - considering he was already 70 (ah pek, much?) when he was president.

UPDATE: THAT DOES NOT MEAN I AM ATTRACTED TO OLD PEOPLE OKAY?! I am saying he was engtaw when he was younger and when he grew older, he's still okay I suppose. wth wth wth.

The Museum is located atop a hill so it was pretty chilly up there. Nevertheless, it was pretty. You have a perfect bird eye's view of the little houses.

So anyway, first thing we saw was:

The Berlin wall! Or at least a piece of it. And for those of you who do not know what the Berlin Wall is, it's the wall that separated West Berlin from East Berlin because it was Democratic in the West but Communist in the East. So what? Well, the people of East Berlin hated communism and said, "To heck with this !#$@! I'm going over to the other side where there's food! " Okay, they didn't say that but you get what I mean.

Of course, Mr. Stalin wasn't too happy about this. So he build the wall thinking, "ha! Let's see you run now!" He also set up booby traps and had armed troops with binoculars in towers on patrol. Mind you, people still tried to get to the other side. My History teacher also said that a guy got so fed up so he gathered a bunch of people and tried to crash through the wall with a huge truck/lorry. They managed to get through, but he died. Irony. But then, it shows how sad and terrible and miserable it must have been for people to become that desperate.

Btw, this side of the wall is obviously the side facing West Berlin cuz there's pretty butterflies graffiti on it. Oh, and trespassing to the other side is serious matter.

OH YEAH! One more thing! The person who paid for the shipping of the berlin wall was none other than the founder of Carl's Jr. (a fast food place with super awesome portions it makes McDonald's burgers so measly.)

So what did the East side of the Berlin wall looked like?

Yeah, Guards and barbed wire. They weren't even allowed to stand within a few feet from the Berlin wall. It's hard to imagine that on one side you're partying and celebrating life and just a little beyond that wall, people are getting shot from trying to cross over or are starving to death from the poor conditions. *shudders*

On to happier things~

This a portrait of Reagan made entirely of JELLY BEANS! Apparently, he LOVES jelly beans. Why? Beats me. When I heard that I thought it made him less "president-like". I mean, to me, presidents should be so busy with the nation's problems he wouldn't have time to, you know, chew on jelly beans and raving about them. Oh and, did you know that Jelly Beans only came in white, red and green? That is, until Reagan asked why there isn't a blue Jelly bean to symbolize the colors of the American flag. And so, cuz you're president, people would instantly make blue ones...and other colors too while they're at it.

This is his diary/journal. Yeah.

*nothing else to say*

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

ZACK IS SO SEXY BTW!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

This is a copy of the Declaration of Independence. However, this is a very rare copy cuz it wasn't made by a copy machine. It was made not long after the Declaration of Independence was written, which is around 1776. The people wanted to make copies but due to the lack of modern technology, went through complicated means to create this copy--and it took them 3 years. Altogether there are 200 copies, but only 32 left in the world, so they are VERY VERY rare and old.

This particular copy however was bought for $3 at a souvenir shop by a couple on their vacation. And when they went home and opened it, they found that it was made of sheep's skin with faded but real ink writings and lo and behold! It's no ordinary dirt cheap A3 paper declaration, it's a rare item! And guess what, they sold it for $400,000++ at an auction. !!!!! So much profit! And this lucky couple is the founder of In-and-Out Burgers. (which have the freshest and most awesome burgers in town, if and only if you'd stop laughing at that name. Perverts)

how come all these people who donate stuff to the museum are linked with fast food anyway?

This is a scribe - the dude who writes the Declaration of Independence or important documents similar to it. They have super small handwriting cuz they, like us Chinese, wanna save paper, or rather sheepskin at the time cuz they were expensive.

And um, this is King Richard. Say Hi!

Yeah, I photoshopped it to look like a painting cuz the pixels were so ugly. Anyway, it's still nice isn't it? Say it is!

Reagan's kitchen. The brown cabinet is really an ice-box aka fridge. They literally have to buy ice every week to keep it cold. O__o

And then, his dinning room!

I happen to think that this is a wonderful picture taken by me! Yay me!

Yeah, Reagan came from a poor family. This is where he lived:

The baby on the right is him.

And he grew up and got married.

This is where he proposed to his 2nd wife. The first divorced him cuz she wasn't into politics

----------------------------------------

Then, he campaigned for Governer! With a super cool car.

And eventually for President. So he moves into the Oval Office.

And then this ah pek would not get out of my way. -____-
Yeah, yeah, he's my tour guide and I understand that he's trying to explain things to us and all that, but why can't he just move aside a little when I'm trying to take a picture?! He KNOWS i'm taking a picture, and he's always BLOCKING me. I mean, doesn't he know that people love taking pictures, and couldn't he be so kind to get out of the picture or at least stop blocking the things i wanna take? Actually, if he'd just stop moving around in the pictures i wanna take, cuz it's making him like a blurry ghost, I'd be happy enough okay!

Fail.

FAIL FAIL FAIL. OMG, ANNOYED!

Yay!
I was finally able to take a decent shot once he (and the rest of my group) left. That's the ONLY way I can take photos without him in it. -_- Trust me, there's more of him--even some where his body is ENTIRELY blocking my camera lens --but I deleted them.

This is also the Oval Office. Did you know that if people wanted to talk to the President privately or secretly they'd have to go through that secret door? Cuz if they went through the regular door, the Secret Service would have them thoroughly checked cuz it's their responsibility to maintain tight security. I personally think it's so cool that presidents have secret doors!!! It's like a mystery fiction or fairy tale.

Ahhh...the perks of being president. He received more than 5 million gifts his first term and another few more million his 2nd term.

His belt buckle collection. Actually, they were gifts. Seriously, how many waists does a person have?

Unfairness! I want autographed stuff too!

Of course, every President has his duty to the nation. Reagan signed an agreement with Gorbachev to end nuclear weapons that causes massive destruction. The picture above is an example of said missile. It's the shell of missile. And DANG! MISSILES ARE HUGE!

Oh and another great thing about being President is, you have the whole plane to yourself!

Introducing Air Force One!

Had some pretty neat stuff in there such as the world's first laptop. It has a worldwide communication centre in there too but we weren't allowed to take pictures inside so I can't show it to you. BUT, this guy in front of me was just snapping away with his camera like he couldn't care less like that. I dont like people like that cuz, they are so in your face. Like, "look I'm taking photos, come get me!" grr.

Anyway, Air Force one is basically a flying White House. It does not have regular rows of seats but spacious seats with desks and tables like an office. I heard the new Air Force One even has a gym in it. A GYM! and a suite! Sien, I want to be president liaw. Look at all the perks! Btw, i discovered from the vid they showed us that the president has like, the BEST CHEFS. Omg, I SO WANT TO BE PRESIDENT LIAW.

Almost forgot about this. This is the first lady's wardrobe. She has a heck lot more and a bunch of jewelery given to her for FREE. I did not take photos cuz i was kek xim. U know what? If i don't win the elections, then I shall be the first lady! So, good food, good clothes, good planes and good house!!! *day dreams*

Then again, no one lives forever. This is President Reagan's grave. It felt pretty weird standing there. Like, you stand there thinking...he's in there. Beneath me. Hmm.

Oh, he died at the age of 93! He lived such a long life~!

Group picture of my schoolmates and me as proof that i was there and did not steal the pics from the internet. XD

So there you have it. A super long update. Phew! I'm tired. See ya!

oh and POP QUIZ! (To see if you were paying attention): Who keeps appearing in my photos? [she's in there alright. I dunno why she pops up whenever i take a picture]
