Memorial Day Weekend and a "New" Haircut
This 3-day weekend John and I wanted to do something relaxing and fun on a budget and without having to deal with traffic. I initially wanted to do a mini-vacation like go to Yosemite to hike and spend the night at a lodge, but that would involve both money and traffic so that didn't materialize.
Anyway, we ended up spending the weekend strolling around the campus arboretum, which is super gorgeous, instead. Lately, we've been kind of going on a health streak ever since my nutrition class' professor keeps bugging us to rethink our diet and exercise habits. So far, I'm enjoying the more active lifestyle...probably also because the weather is really warming up and is getting more suitable for outdoor activities. During our walk, we stumbled upon a wedding! It was a cute outdoor garden wedding on campus grounds. The area was technically blocked off for guests but we were too curious we snuck in to take a peek. (I had actually considered doing the wedding on campus too but December would be too cold.) The couple were so cute and they had all these cute props like doors (yes, I kid you not, just doors for picture purposes I suppose) and wooden arches with cute wedding signs like "Mr. & Mrs" or bible verses. We also "stole" a program XD. The couple also had a picture taken at the trees with the carved hearts that John and I also used for our Save-the-Dates!
Yeap! This very tree! Notice that the first picture had our initials "carved" into it? Yeah, we didn't do something so selfish (or as hardworking) as to carve our names there otherwise that couple can't use this tree for a photo op. I photoshopped it in XD. Seriously, photoshop gets such a bad rep these days but it's so useful for stuff like this.
On Sunday, we went for a haircut and foot massage. I haven't cut my hair in a loooong time to save $$, and cutting hair is always such a hassle. Like, you have to decide on a look otherwise getting it trimmed isn't really worth it. You know what I mean? Or maybe that's just an Asian thing. So, yeah, I've been avoiding haircuts for too long, and I felt like my hair was too heavy and it was getting caught onto everything. So, I took like 2.5 inches off! Would have gone shorter but then shorter hair needs lots of maintenance and right now I think I couldn't be bothered. I also made a spontaneous decision to get bangs. :O I rarely do spontaneous things but John really wanted me to get bangs so I did.
The result:
Don't mind the ridiculously long lashes. Ran out of my fav ones and these are the only ones I have on hand.
I think (?) I like it. Much lighter and no more hair in my face when I'm trying to study or do my homework. John loves it because it makes me look younger, apparently. His mom said I look sweeter with the bangs. What does that even mean, ah? That I wasn't sweet before? And then May said it looks like I'm 17, LOL. Now people will think I'm a married teen? Big sis didn't like it too much since she said it's less mature...but I think this might be a good change after all since I don't like feeling too old. I have an old person's personality and people have easily mistaken me as like a 26 year old or something with my previous long and grown-out hair.
That pretty much sums up the weekend. Back to school again for another two more weeks and then I get to visit the family AND the new house!!! So excited.
Till next time~
