Shopping and that time of the month

After an intense two weeks of midterms, hubs decided that I should get some R&R this weekend. People think that since I'm married, I get to have plenty of time relaxing with hubs during the weekends, but that is far from the truth. I'm always so swamped with assignments and tests that I kind of have to spend the majority of the weekend taking care of those matters. And on the rare chance that I am free, hubs will always choose that weekend to visit his parents in Oakland because then I wouldn't have to worry about due dates and bug him like crazy to cut the visit short like, every hour, even though we'd always end up spending the whole weekend there.

I expressed to John how unhappy and stressed out I've been lately. I was beginning to feel like I never had time just for ourselves. So, John suggested a sweet thing: to spend this Saturday doing whatever *I* wanted to do (shopping, watch a movie, dine out etc.) to clear my mind and just truly relax without having to feel the need to attend to anyone or anything. I was so happy! Got dolled up for the first time in weeks. I know in social media I appear to be a frequent makeup wearer, but I am actually a bum who just throws on a t-shirt and jeans and drag myself to school. I wish I could be as dedicated as some of the girls on campus but I just never found the time. Putting makeup on is therapeutic to me. I love spending a solid hour just painting on the different products that just transform you like magic. In fact, it's like my go to stress reliever after finals every quarter. XD That's why if I can't squeeze in an hour to enjoy it, I'm like ehhhh screw it.

Decided to pull out the red lipstick that Ruth used on me for the wedding again. Red lips are SO hard to achieve despite it looking so simple. I made such a huge mess in the bathroom with all the smudges that got onto my hand. Also, my lips are the fat but no shape type so drawing on a fake bow shape was challenging. Impressed with the results though!

Selfie time! John is always so cute. It's not fair how he only spends like literally 5 minutes and he's good to go.

Anyway, we went to Ross to shop for clothes. I LOVE Ross! They have some pretty good finds there and I swear all their clothes are like below $30, even if they are branded. But the majority of them are like, what, below $15? Amazing price I tell you! I scored a cardigan for only $6.99, a dressy blouse for only $5.49, and a nice white form-fitting tee for $4 because they were on clearance. I got a bunch of other stuff like a pencil skirt, more cardigans, a maxi skirt, and some regular tops. All items (except the pencil skirt which was $17) were under $15. So. Cheap. To put things in perspective, I bought a regular, plain-ol cheaplak (in a sense that it's quite thin) t-shirt from Target for $9.00. Yeah, kind of regretted that.

After all that shopping it was time to eat. We decided on a whim to try out a Mexican restaurant in the area. Having a lot of Mexican friends who'd always take me to really good food joints, I've become rather picky when it comes to Mexican food. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant (then again, could be because it was 2:15pm) so I was worried that the food wouldn't be good. But I was pleasantly surprised! The mixed fajitas plate was SO DELICIOUS. It came out on a hot sizzling plate (love!) and the seasonings were just right. No overcooked, dry, or over-salted/bland meat. Sizzling plate is a super nice touch. Kept the food warm all throughout, which I appreciate because I dislike eating lukewarm food. Yeah, I know. I can be so particular.

Sizzle sizzle. Can see from the "smoke" that it's piping hot!

Did I mention portion size was huge? The meat came on a separate plate from the rice and beans. This is my new favorite Mexican joint. And the best part is it's actually close by in Woodland! *~Happiness~*

At this point, we food coma'd and went home to nap. We wanted to see the new Avengers: Age of Ultron movie but the tickets were sold out. Grrr. In the end, we decided treat ourselves to dinner instead at Tank House. However, when we got there, they wouldn't let us in because it's a bar and I didn't bring my ID to prove that I was of age. What la, it was such a slow night with like 5 people in the entire bar, and pretty sure that I look nowhere near below 21 with my red lips and ring on my finger, or that I wasn't even going to drink because I'm allergic to alcohol, but nope....barred from entry. Sigh. Wanted to angrily leave and go home to make a statement, but their food is so good we ordered it to go. *sheepish*

And that pretty much sums up the date day. Besides the one or two mishaps, the day was sooooooooo relaxing and fun. John is the sweetest man I've ever met. So generous and willing to do spontaneous things for/with me. Trust me, he hates shopping but went through the whole thing just for me. *touched*

Today, I was in a irritable mood because I'm PMS-ing. He has this sixth sense that something was up and was so patient with me and cooked me a super awesome steak dinner (I think he has perfected his steak recipes) and gave me chocolate LOL. John, you are the best! Sometimes, I just can't help but think, what did I ever do to deserve this? I am so lucky and blessed! Even though we've been married for more than 4 months, and have dated for more than 4 years, I still have moments where I catch myself not believing that I'm married to this awesome guy.

I love you so much, John! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend. ^_^
