New Macro Lens!

John loves photography (though he's still quite the novice) and bought a new macro lens to take pictures of food. Yeah, I know, people take pictures of scenery but we go to restaurants and admire culinary presentations. John's sister told me she read a recent article on how the turnaround time at restaurants have increased significantly over the years due to people snapping pictures of their dinner and posting to instagram before eating. Food enthusiasts unite!

Anyway, we got the lens a few days ago and decided to test it out on our rings since we didn't have any ring pics from the wedding. We didn't have all the rings in once place when the photographer requested for them and forgot about it later.

I'm not too much of a photographer because I'm too lazy to read up on what different cameras and lenses do, probably because they are so expensive! No point picking up a hobby that I can't afford. So my forte is actually Photoshopping. Someone gave me the program so it's FREE for me, and kind of makes up for crappy photos from lower-end cameras. An appropriate hobby for a penny pincher and a "get the most bang for your buck" type girl.

John tried a million ways to arrange the rings to look "professional" but this is best we could do. Yeah, the bible verse isn't love related in the 2nd pic but whatever lah.

And this is what the pics look like after editing!

Subtle difference, but I love how the red pops so much more in the 1st pic. The lighting was bad and John just couldn't get it to look like what we saw. He took like a million pics and I'm just like, ok, I'm tired and done. I can just photoshop the pics. (My go to solution for anything that doesn't seem to work on camera. Hannah takes it one step further, she's all like, "Make John's ring gold so it matches yours for aesthetic purposes." hahaha. Though it isn't quite far from the truth on how Victoria's Secret cover photos are done)

And this is why you can never trust pictures online. No amount of skinny, equipment, or perfect lighting will give the "perfect" shot. At least that is how I feel about it. Being an avid photoshopper for church events and promotional flyers myself, I've learned to never take a photo at face value. Perhaps that's why pictures of beautiful women online doesn't affect my self confidence much. I know how much editing the picture has gone through.

Quite happy with my edits! I think they are instagram and pinterest worthy. Too bad I don't have either apps. hahaha.

Can't wait to see how they work on food pictures!

Toodles!
