Cooped up in San Diego
Well, most wouldn't say they're "cooped up" if they're in San Diego, since this is the ideal place for relaxation and retirement. From the numerous beautiful beaches, the perfect year-round weather, the 4-5 Yelp stars eateries, the plethora of parks, museums and hiking trails, being in San Diego is almost always a vacation/staycation, NOT a prison hole.
But alas, I'm not here to do any of the above activities (unless I'mtempted and enticed dragged to go on adventure), but to study for the actuarial exam, YET AGAIN. I know, I am so over this and cannot wait to kick it's butt come May. (Please Lord, help me pass). I even paid good money for study materials because I can no longer afford to be frugal (oh the irony). Each exam costs me a whopping $225 after all.
So, why San Diego and not home? Because home has too many distractions. Ironic yet again since SD is THE place to be for fun activities and Sacramento is the "boring" residential/business city. But John is too fun to ignore lol. Okay, on a more serious note, the responsibilities of in-laws, endless house chores, and cooking was too much for me to handle, so I kind of "escaped" at the expense of John's daily happiness and comfort of having a housewife. Sorry, honey. I love you and am very grateful for your understanding. Hehe.
The "original plan" was to pass my test this past March, and then take a week off to relax with my parents. The "backup plan" was to discuss my future path should I fail the exam. And so, this is how I ended up here today.
I'm really appreciating the homecooked meals that I get the pleasure of eating without having to make it though! Laundry is kept to a minimum because I have no friends here to hang out with, so all my laundry consists only of my week's worth of home clothes. I've lost some freedom but the perks are worth the trade for the time being.
Keeping up with the New Year's Resolution monthly update, I've been doing okay still. Kinda getting rusty on R and coding for now, but the weekly workouts are still going strong. Lucky me that the homecooking can take a short break for now too. But up until I came to SD, I've been keeping up with everything. The months really do just come and go don't they? I swear I felt like I made my NYR not too long ago, but April has already come and is about to go!
On that note, I've lost 10 lbs since then! I'm going on a weight-loss journey after neglecting my diet and exercise for a whole year and a half whilst being caught up with graduation, house fires, and house renovations. As I've said before, I'm taking the longer route this time to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle and routine. The end goal is to get to my high school weight even though that seems so far fetched right now. That's 15 more lbs to go! I guess if I keep at it, I should get close to my target by the end of this year. From then, my new goal should be to maintain for the whole year of 2018. One step at a time.
Gonna end on a happy note: John is coming in a day! So excited! I never realized how much he made me laugh (which is every single day) until I stayed in SD for a bit. Thank God for giving me John in my life, otherwise I would be subjected to such boredom everyday. Have I always been this boring? How did anyone enjoy my company....
Anyway, yay yay yay! He'll be here tomorrow night! Woohoo!
