Mini Update: Weight Loss Progress
Okay, I technically have a lot of updates but I'm too tired to log them all here. I mainly wanted to say as of today, I HAVE LOST 15 LBS! Hurray! Okay, in kilograms that's only approximately 8. But I'm really happy with my progress!
For some reason, I thought it'd be much harder, so I gave myself a whole year to lose the 15 lbs. However, I got a lot of encouragement and motivation from John this time round which made the weight loss journey a lot more bearable. I've tried going on "diets" before (i.e. opting for healthier choices like 2% milk over whole, brown rice over white, or baked chicken parmesan over deep fried...you get the idea) but was never all that successful because John will sometimes give me the stink eye. He'd still eat my cooking, albeit somewhat begrudgingly. I know I can ignore his minor complaints, but me being the kind of person who wants people to absolutely love her cooking, I always gave in to his wants and decided that we'd be much happier as a fat couple. Too bad the doctors didn't agree with our lifestyle so we were forced to make this change (lol).
Nowdays, he's finally checking the nutrition labels and realizing that "real" mayo isn't tastier by 65 more calories' worth per tablespoon. Cooking healthier food has definitely been a LOT easier now that he's on the same team, which plays a huge role in weight loss. That guy lost 30 lbs since though. Super unfair! He's also super buff now. -_- I was somewhat disheartened until I realized that both his parents are naturally muscular and athletic. The look on my face must have not been pretty when I saw how much larger John's mom's biceps are compared to mine even though she's 60 and has never worked out. Meanwhile, I've been trying to strengthen my biceps since March and they're still not visible! I am quite the jack of all trades but I simply, completely, utterly suck at sports. I blame my dad for my lack of athletic ability. He was part of the chess club and not soccer or tennis after all. The closest thing to sports he's ever done is pingpong, but we all know that doesn't really count.
Well, now that I've reached my weight loss goal for this year much earlier than expected, I'm going to push to lose the remaining 10lbs by the end of this year. I'm not going to be super strict on myself though. I think the most important goal is to keep the weight off for good, so the real test is to see if I can at least maintain my current weight until December 31st, 2017. I hope I'll have good news when that time comes around.
Oh, I also got a new fitness tracker from John yesterday! Super cool~ Now I can finally track my heart rate and make sure I reach my target rate during my workouts. Here's to another half year of working on fitness and weight loss!
