Busy Busy Busy
These days I am always just so busy! Then again, it IS week 9 (only one more week till finals), and there are a lot of projects due and catching up to do as usual.
I feel like when you're in a quarter system, being crazy busy during week 9 is inevitable. Not just for the students, but also for the professor/lecturer. Near the end of every quarter, I hear the professors wail about how they are unable to teach what they wanted to cover in the syllabus and that they are up to their shoulders with work. And you know, it kinda worries me. If every quarter we never cover what we're supposed to cover, are we qualified to say that we've passed the course?
Another thing that bothers me a lot is that professors just kind of hand-wavily dismiss the last topic/section if they are unable to squeeze it in, but that topic is crucial for future classes...even more so if it's a series class. I mean, this really isn't an issue if the professor teaching the next series excuses you for not knowing the material from the last class, but more often than not, you'll get a different professor who expects you to know everything. Since I'm taking statistics/math based classes, all the new materials STACK upon the previous materials. So if I didn't learn it from my previous class, I have to do some crazy self-study catch up while trying not to fall behind in my current class...all in ten short weeks. Ugh.
As a statistics major, I feel like I'm not getting the most out of my education here at UC Davis. But I've been told that our statistics program is one of the best in the state. *Shrugs* I just hope my future employer doesn't assume that I know everything (the way my professors expect me to) and assign me tasks beyond my capabilities/knowledge...arrrggh. Am I being anxious over nothing?
I know I complain about school now, but I'm sure when I'm out in the work force, I'll be facing even worse challenges...because that's what everyone tells you. I've heard so many graduates telling me to enjoy the college life because it's best...but I dunno, man. I find it quite frustrating and stressful. Hubby and older sis are working and seem to have endless complaints about the corporate life. (But then again, when I asked if school or work is worse, they say school because you pay $$$ out of your pocket and still have to deal with bad systems, whereas at work at least you get PAID $$$ to deal with the crappy systems. Hahaha)
But I have no idea how to enjoy the college life tbh. When I see hubby coming home and just CHILLING without having to deal with homework and studies, I feel very envious. It's like once you clock out you're free...whereas in school you're not really "free" ever. I mean, yeah you can ignore the homework and studying but we all know that costs us our grades, which costs us our money lol.
Maybe I'm like the katak dibawah tempurung, like, I haven't graduated and am still very ignorant, thus the multitude of rants about school.
For those who keep saying I should enjoy my time now, how should I enjoy it? Like, what about it am I suppose to be enjoying? Please enlighten me. I like the learning part, but everything else is such a drag.
I really wish I wasn't so swamped with assignments so I can finally write a blog post about my wedding now that the photos are out. Then again, if I finish my work right now instead of ranting I might have the time to. Ooops.
Till next time!
