My very own home sweet home

Had an amazing four-day weekend visiting my family in San Diego! John, Hannah, and I basically went around to all the eating hotspots on our list, because there really isn't a lot of good places to eat at in Davis. And then we attempted to make lobster tail and salmon via sous vide, along with some (USDA choice grade chuck short ribs) kebabs on the grill for youngest sis's 17th birthday.  Pretty sure I gained 5 lbs from that trip alone. My mom even packed me karipap, pao, zhong zi, and random pastries to go, so that I can enjoy them in Davis. So sweet.

All good food aside, spending time with the family is always really fun and I always end up getting motivated or uplifted by their encouragement and advice after a heavy quarter of studies or struggles (despite some family drama, which is unavoidable). Played a new card game called Fluxx that was intended for players ages 10+, and even though we were all 17++, we were so crappy at comprehending the game lol. Major fail. Nevertheless, the whole trip was very memorable!

No pics cuz I haven't edited any, and some are already on Facebook.

Although I really enjoyed my time there being surrounded by family (and staying in a big and new pretty house!!) I couldn't help but look forward to being home in our humble and plain apartment in Davis with John. We don't have very many close friends or family nearby, but something about just being with each other feels so warm and special. I never once thought that I'd feel this way because I loved growing up in a huge family! The more, the merrier, right? I liked being surrounded with multiple siblings because that meant there was always a party going on, and you can always have someone to accompany you to do an activity together even if another is busy.

But the setback with having so many people around is that you gotta divide your attention to each individual, which can be pretty tiring after a while, I suppose. Also, you wouldn't be able to spend quality time with each one if everyone is demanding a portion of your time. I hardly got to snuggle and cuddle up with John at all, even when we had our own room. I guess I should learn to cherish these peaceful moments with John before the kids start arriving.

Anyway, thank you God for a safe trip there and back! And thank you for family, love, relationships, and bonds. Thank you for always being there for us, and for always protecting us and guiding us. Thank you for the beautiful new home that is finally large enough to accommodate all of us. Above all, thank you for never failing us.

Amen.
