Summer 2015!!!

My summer break has finally arrived!

What a summer it has been. As if there wasn't enough going on all of August, I got news the day before my math final that my grandmother had passed away, and that my dad and mom will be hopping on the next available flight to attend her funeral. As such, I am suddenly in charge of "babysitting" the siblings i.e. driving them to and from school and cooking them meals so that they don't starve to death I suppose. Hahaha. And so, that is how I spent part of my break.

Mind you, this trip was not something planned ahead of time, so flight tickets for just me was like $450. TT__TT

Still, it has been an overall fun experience.

I got to see some old friends during the short week I was there. I attended Ari's bridal shower, which was amazing, and caught up with Bryan on life. He is a Physics and Chemistry teacher at PHS now! It must be so odd to teach at your alma matter but he seemed to be doing well. Oh, I was also "forced" to tally up and input grades into his school's system haha, but all's good because I got to see a glimpse of what he has to do on the daily and what his kids are like.

The next day, I had breakfast with Mr. Anderson at some place called Jake's, I think. Bryan and I were just talking about how weird it is that despite the fact that we are no longer his students, and that he isn't even working as a teacher anymore, we still call him "Mr. Anderson" and not Chris. At what point do you make the switch? And is it okay to do so?

I didn't anticipate to see Ruth this time round, but reached out to her anyway because I haven't seen her since the wedding. I feel so blessed to have friends who are willing to borrow a car from a roommate and drive 30 minutes to where I live just to catch up with me. Not that I wouldn't make the effort to go out that far to see them if they called, but it was such short notice that I didn't expect her to go through the extra effort. I often wail to John how I have no friends nearby that I can hang out with often, but I actually have really good friends even though they are far away.

The weeks passed by so fast yet so long since John wasn't there with me. But I treasure the time I get to spend with siblings alone and not as a sister/wife. Still, John is always so fun to be around.

Anyway, I wrote this post while break was still in motion with the intention to add pics, but I'm back in school again. Here's to an awesome SENIOR year. I know right? I can't believe I'm actually a senior. I thought this day would never come considering how many obstacles and withdrawals from school I've experienced in the past 5 years since coming to Davis. Praying that this time round when I'm out of school it's because I actually finished school and not because of another unforeseen life event. Oh. My. Goodness, you guys. I am a senior!!!
