Happy Thanksgiving!
This year we celebrated Thanksgiving at the in-laws because I couldn't really travel to San Diego and Thanksgiving isn't something I grew up with, so it's not really a big deal to me if I don't spend it with immediate family.
John's sis and her husband ordered the Thanksgiving meal set from Whole Foods, which turned out pretty good. Only in America can you find everything pre-made/cooked, like a whole roasted turkey, so you can enjoy the holidays in the "traditional" way.
I wasn't really looking forward to Thanksgiving because I have a ton of homework due that I haven't gotten around too because I just got so busy. Maybe I procrastinate too much or maybe I'm just too involved in all these different things that I am kind of stretched thin. Also, I wasn't sure if the sis-in-law was still in bad terms with me or not. If she was, I imagine it would get really awkward. In the end, she was pretty civil so I guess it wasn't too bad.
At times like these, I really miss my own family because I know my mom will be cooking up a storm of mouthwatering dishes. I also like how my family can be pretty loud and silly during these kind of gatherings, which makes dinner really fun.
Too bad I have so much work to do.
On the bright side, I get to spend Christmas with them! And MIL gets to join the party as well. Hopefully everything turns out OK. Also, I just discovered that I could be graduating in March instead of Spring! I'd still have to walk during the spring but I'm kind of stoked to be getting out of school early. =)
No pics as of yet because John hasn't uploaded them. But it's the typical Thanksgiving dinner so I'll leave that to your imagination.
You can't end a thanksgiving post without the obligatory list of things you're thankful for this year. Well, I'm thankful that the first year of marriage with John has been nothing short of great so far and that it's almost our one year anniversary! Also, I'm thankful that we have a wonderful apartment, good food, and good friends and mentors surrounding us. This year has been pretty crazy with the whole family drama on the in-laws side, but it has also strengthened my relationship with his oldest sis and her husband, and I am grateful for that. Pretty grateful that the other sis is getting better now too.
Here's to another month of blessings and thanksgiving until Christmas! So excited!
